Malou Castillejos is one of Philippine’s premier fashion designers. Her creations exude elegance and grace with very feminine details perfect for any bride. She specializes in fine embroidery and very delicate hand bead work.

Her presence in the bridal industry started in 1999 when she first showcased her talent for designing wedding gowns at the Rituals Bridal Show at Dusit Hotel in Makati in March of that year. Words came around about this young and talented designer and soon enough, international magazines featured her as one of the most promising designers of the Philippines. Rosy’s Bridal Center is one of the more established and popular wedding stores in Baclaran along with Meding’s Wedding Gowns. And since it is in Baclaran, the ultimate bargain shopper’s haven, wedding related goods and services here are just as affordable as it could get.

The shop is run by the able hands of Manang Rosy and her son Ojie Bamba. Manang Rosy is popular that her clients include actors and actresses. Another thing that makes Rosy’s very popular aside from their very affordable price (think about PHP2,000 for a nice gown), is the fact that you can rent gowns and suits from them. It’s definitely an answered prayer for brides on a tight budget. But that’s not to say that their gowns are cheap. On the contrary, some of their designs can stand up side by side with couture gowns that costs more than ten times.

Meding’s Wedding Gowns & Embroidery is a one-stop-wedding shop in Baclaran that offers affordable wedding gowns and wedding accessories and supplies. It was started by Aling Meding more than 20 years ago and is now under the careful and able hands of her daughter, Naida. It is also Naida who makes the designs of their gowns.

Aside from their Ready-To-Wear Wedding Gowns, they also accept made-to-order gowns where you can have your own design or wedding gowns from popular magazines of your choosing. Their RTW gowns costs as low as PHP1,500 to 2,500 and for a more elegant ones, between PHP5,000 to PHP8,000. Of course, that price can go up if you choose a better material for your wedding gown. But we’ll bet that the price would only be a fraction of what you’ll pay to a wedding couture. And at that cost, brides can choose to have a second gown for their wedding for whatever purpose they can choose.

Gowns and Events was organized by Vanna to create the clothing and accessories that are high in fashion sense but lower in terms of price. In doing this, she regularly study fashion trends, sketch designs, select colors and fabrics, and oversee the process by which some other original designs come to fruition in the form of new clothes and accessories.

Fashion design is a profession that tended to attract Vanna at an early age. She is someone who spent a large portion of her youth reading fashion magazines or making clothes for her dolls. People around her knew well before she even became an adult, that a career as a fashion designer has a particular appeal to her.

However, Vanna knew that there are many facets of the profession and many things to know about what it will take to forge a successful career in this field. And so she reviewed her skills through self-study and long-time trainings, attended several workshops and completed other requirements needed to become a top-notch fashion designer. While some fashion designers specialize in clothing (men’s, women’s, and children’s apparel), footwear (shoes and boots), or accessory (handbags, belts, scarves, hats, hosiery, etc), Vanna creates designs in all of these fashion categories.
