The Victorian period is the era between the year 1840 and the year 1900. This was the time when the whole world was seeing the industrial revolution. The industrial revolution changed the whole world. However, the centre for the industrial revolution was still England. There are so many things to say about the Victorian period either it is the houses or the clothing or even the culture.

2012 is the comeback of the Victorian style bridal gown. A modern twist on a vintage fashion, the revival of intricate designs, lace details, and flowing fabrics mixed with a modern flair of high collars, ruffles, delicate sleeves, and layers upon layers of graceful fabrics. The unique combination of romance and modesty make an all together perfect and elegant design.

Here are some Victorian Inspired Wedding Dresses

Cupcakes have been the latest trends in wedding cakes. But a more elegant version to challenge the cupcake is the new trend now, a mini cake.

A miniature version of its larger predecessor, mini cakes can be created to look and taste just like the real McCoy, or they can be created in different flavors with different filling and in an assortment of complementing colors to follow your wedding theme. Mini cakes also come in a variety of sizes each of which are able to hold their own as an individual wedding accessory.

If using your mini cakes as wedding favors, you can do so in a number of different ways.
Mini cakes can be used as wedding favors. One way is that, you can display it alongside the full-sized version for individuals to sample after dinner or placed at each individual guest’s place setting. Or wrapped in a box or cellophane bag and placed on a table waiting for guests to take home with them at evening’s end.

Some bridal couples choose to skip the full-sized cake entirely in lieu of an assortment of mini cakes displayed on a tier cake stand similar to the trend seen with cupcakes. And just as with cupcakes the bride and groom can still perform their ceremonial cake cutting utilizing one of the smaller cakes, and place their cake topper either resting on the top of the stand or balanced atop of a circle of mini cakes.

Still other couples will use their mini cake as a part of their centerpieces amidst smaller flowers, or candle displays, with a cake knife on hand for guests to cut and serve the cake after dinner.

For those that still prefer to have the larger main cake in addition to their decorative mini cakes, why not slice it and box it up instead either as a favor for your guests or for sampling later in the evening to complement a midnight buffet.

When allowed to perform double duty as both a wedding favor and as an addition to the overall decor of the wedding as centerpieces, mini wedding cakes are more than worth the added expense they might run. Depending on the number of tables you have and the number of guests invited, they might even end up saving you money.

No matter how you slice it, mini cakes are an elegant alternative to the common cupcake.

For those who wants to spice up their wedding with novel ideas, this one would be a very good suggestion — dance your way to the altar. And that’s what Jill Heinz and Kevin Peterson did when they took their bows at a Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

You read it right, folks! Instead of the traditional procession in the aisle, ushers, bridesmaids and groomsmen danced to the tune of Chris Brown’s “Forever”. The groom then performs a somersault on his way to the altar. The surprised guests then gave the hip-swaying bride a standing ovation when she walked, errr, danced down the aisle and take their vows.

Watch the 5-minute video below.

As of this posting, the video already has been viewed over 5.2 million times. And it will only get more popular.

It’s one novel idea for a wedding but I don’t think it will be possible here in the Philippines. We all know that most of the Catholic churches here follows strict codes being implemented. So there goes the saying “DON’T TRY THIS AT HOME”.

“Going Green” is the hottest buzzword these days with the climate change and environment issues hounding us. As part of our contribution to the fight against global warming, below is a list of tips we gathered for a “Green Wedding“.

•	Hold your wedding in a park or garden
•	Use single layer invitation cards printed on recycled paper, treeless paper made from bamboo or other materials, or better yet, use e-invitations to reduce paper wastage
•	If using disposable tableware, choose biodegradable products
•	Encourage your guests to car-pool or van-pool
•	Choose a caterer that is familiar with the venue to avoid any damage to the site during their setup or teardown
•	Select wedding favors that are useful for your guests to minimise throwaways
•	Consider using pre-owned items (e.g. wedding gown, decorations) for your wedding
•	Decorate your wedding venue with potted plants that you can use again to decorate your home instead of fresh cut flowers where possible
•	Source for local flowers and plants to decorate the wedding venue to minimise resources used in transporting them
•	Setup a gift registry to minimise unwanted gifts
•	Let your guests know to avoid giving congratulatory cards but instead sign their best wishes on your wedding guestbook.
•	Request for guests to donate towards an environmental cause
•	Request for cleaners at the venue to separate recyclable items from those that are not and dispose them accordingly
•	Avoid shark’s fin in your menu
•	Avoid the use of confetti

Christmas wedding theme is common as many couples find Holiday season the perfect time to tie the knot. Getting married during this season is also fun and economical since churches and reception areas are already decorated with traditional decor that goes well with the Christmas theme wedding.

Here are some tips and ideas for a Christmas Theme Wedding

Check with your church beforehand because they may already have decorated for christmas. If not, try christmas lights wrapped in tulle or white ribbon. This will give a snowy, romantic effect. Other option is luminaries lining the church driveway are a really neat decoration and cheap too.

At the reception, you may want to have strands of Christmas lights at your reception. Drape them over doorways, staircases, food service tables, the wedding cake table, and just about any place that needs a little mood light. You may also consider to put a Christmas tree and hang Christmas ornaments that can also serve as your wedding favors for the guests.

Garden venues like the Father Blanco’s Garden, Patio Victoria and Fernwoods Garden are perfect for this type of theme. The trees inside the area are even decorated with strands of lights that adds elegance to the ambiance.

Choose wedding attire for the bridesmaids and groomsmen that match the colors and fabrics of the season. Shades of green and red are very popular.

The bride and groom may choose to arrive at the reception by horse-drawn carriage or sleigh if it would be possible for you to do so. One of your Christmas wedding ideas might include having your sleigh driver dressed as Santa.

For music, mix Christmas carols (classic and contemporary) with other favorites. You also could arrange a Christmas music sing-a-long, or have carolers stop by at each table. This would be a great activity to get the children involved in the wedding.

You can send invite fashioned like a Christmas card. As Christmas cards become less and less popular, an invite with that theme is a novelty.

Statistically in the Philippines, December is the month with the most number of weddings. That means you have to book your church and reception well ahead of time. If you can, try to avoid the most sought after churches like the Manila Cathedral and San Agustin Church. There are churches that are equally beautiful like the National Shrine of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Guadalupe Church.

Finding a reception is also difficult for this season so just like the church, it must be booked at least a year. You’ll find that there are dates(especially weekends), that are booked two years in advance. The tip here is to choose any day other than Saturday so Sunday is your next choice.

But at any rate, Christmas season is still one of the best time for your wedding. The mood is festive, it is a time for giving and definitely, it is a time for love. And as we have said, the lights and decorations may help you cut cost.

Color plays a very important role in buying a wedding gown for any bride. In the western culture, popularity of white wedding gown is such that very few brides think of walking down the aisle in any other color. Even though the color white needs a lot of maintenance, the overall demand for white wedding gowns still surpasses that of other colored wedding gowns.

Today, wearing colored wedding gowns is becoming a trend already. It is not only socially acceptable to incorporate color into your gown design, but quite often it allows the bride to create a unique wedding suited to her personal style.

Color options such as black, blue, earth tones or pink are now available to the savvy shopper. Even red wedding gowns are growing in popularity especially in Western culture. While these selections you’re likely to find through bridal salons and even many designers , is still somewhat limited, expect to see more options in the future.

Just a little reminder, you don’t need to shock everyone to incorporate a little color into your wedding gown. A colored sash or bow or colored edging can still add color while keeping the “traditional” feel of the wedding dress. Don’t be afraid to go for bolder colors, if you’re so inclined.

Here are some of the lovely brides on their colored wedding gowns

Your wedding invitations are the first expression of your wedding theme. Whether traditional or non-traditional, classic or contemporary, the invitation is a teaser for your guests.

Although your invitation selection comes down to your individual taste, knowing what the popular trends are now might give you some fresh ideas. And many of the trends encourage personalization, so you can create an invitation that is uniquely “you.”

So, what’s hot?

Pinstripes are definitely in – vertical, horizontal, multi-colored, whatever. Use them in a border or throughout the entire stock.

Jeweled embellishments are also extremely popular, like the Swarovski crystals that are showing up on everything – from dog collars to belts, adding sparkle and glitz. Or sprinkle with tiny rhinestones or mini pearl-toned beads.

Fabric flowers are making a statement, a break away from the customary engraved floral print. Personalize your invitation with a flourish by adding your distinctive flower.

Another interesting trend is the use of white. Not in card stock but in font color. Choose a bright color stock (orange is all the rage) with your invitation text in white.

Invitation design has become more user-friendly by providing pockets and folds to neatly hold and organize your invitation and cards. And that’s not the only new design trend; invitations made of unusual materials such as fabric, wood, and even acrylic have come into vogue. And for the hi-tech at heart, there’s even the DVD invitation!

Allover patterns are also becoming a big hit, giving a new twist to invitation design. For instance, if your gown has an intricate pattern, try duplicating it on your invitation, for a truly one-of-a-kind creation.

Wedding hair styles have changed from year to year and from decade to decade, but the one thing that never changes is how lovely a bride looks as she walks down the aisle to be by the side of her man. From the short cut hair and elegant wigs of ancient Egypt to the long hair combed back and tied in a knot at the nape of the neck of the demure Chinese women, the hair of the blushing bride is the center piece of her vestments. The dress accentuates the up sweep of gentle curls. The veil hides the delicateness of the tendrils, as they frame her face.

Most of the long hair styles this coming 2007 season are more relaxed and free flowing. They show the free spirit of the young maiden as she glides into the halls of matrimony. Popular are flowers worn at the temple instead of the traditional tiara and veil combination. Some long haired darlings will revert to the tried and true upswept hair style that is guaranteed to be a show stopper on their wedding day. Others will step to the beat of their own drums. In the end all that matters is that at the end of the isle the man that they love is left breathless on this most special of days.

Short haired ladies with dreams of flowing locks need not fret. The advent of lace front wigs allows you to have hairstyles that look so natural that no one would ever know that the hair was not your own. Lace front wigs are worn by celebrities so women can now easily duplicate the looks worn by their favorite celebrity. Each hair is hand stitched into the lace setting making it seem as if the hairs were actually growing straight out of the scalp. Lace front wigs are made from a variety of materials ranging from human hair to synthetic hair. With the human hair wigs you can dye and heat the strands to create the perfect look. Synthetic wigs are not able to be dyed, but it they do have some advantages. They are better at maintaining color and holding prearranged shape and more often then not, will cost less than that of a human hair wig.

For those that do not want to wear an entire wig there is always the alternative of hair extensions. Coming in various lengths, colors and styles, the hair extension can give volume to thin hair. Hair extensions can be dyed to match the wearer’s own hair. Extensions also come in the cheaper synthetic versions, but you will need to closely match the color of your own hair as you will not be able to dye it to match, nor will you be able to style it with heat. Taking your time in deciding what you want before going through the time consuming process of fixing the extensions in place will pay off in the end. With all the choices for your big day it all comes down to what will make you happy. There are thousands of hairstyles and accessories from which to choose. Taking time to study your options will assure you of a show stopping gasp from the audience at your wedding.
