The Coconut Palace is a palace in Manila, Philippines, commissioned by former First Lady Imelda Marcos for Pope John Paul II’s visit in 1981. However, he declined the offer, saying that it was an ostentatious option. The Palace’s architect Francisco Manosa, however debunks this myth, saying that the Coconut Palace - a showpiece on the versatility of the coconut and its viability as an export - was planned long before the Pope even decided to visit the country.
The Coconut Palace is made of several Philippine hardwood, coconut shells, and a specially engineered coconut lumber apparently known as Imelda Madera. Each of the suites on the second floor is named after a specific region of the Philippines and displays some of the handicrafts these regions produce. The palace is located on Eduardo A. Makabenta, Sr. Street at the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex between the Folk Arts Theatre and the Sofitel Philippine Plaza. The palace is shaped like an octagon (the shape given a coconut before being served), the roof is shaped like a traditional Filipino salakot or hat. Some of its highlights are the 101 coconut shell chandelier, and the dining table made of 40,000 tiny pieces of inlaid coconut shells. Highlighted as one of the CCP’s most striking structures for its architecture and interiors, the palace celebrates the coconut as the ultimate “Tree of Life”. From the coconut’s roots to its trunk, bark, fruit, flower and shell, the palace’s design, form and ornamentation echo these elements.
It is now another favorite venue for weddings and it’s close proximity to the 5-star Sofitel Philippine Plaza just adds to its advantage.

There is a receiving area, cocktails area inside the house, dinner was served at the poolside. And a spectacular view of the sunset. Comfort room inside the house was clean. Didn’t get to see the loos outside. the reservation fee is 2Ok cash or cheque, but the whole price is 35k, for the night,
they dont accept catering services from others, just thier accredited ones, if you want to reserve as a personal note, reserve a year before!! cuz iam also having a debut on march 2008 and the weekends and fridays are full. so i decided on a thursday,,the lady there said its ok beacuse it is an invitation only party and there are other parties held there besides on weekends, just goes to show how high society parties..

I am having my wedding brunch reception at Coconut Palace poolside this Dec 15, 2007. Yes, the rental fee of the pool side area has actually increased this july from P25k to P35k, so be conscious on this change as part of their contract (price changes without prior notice, i was shocked! they could have warned me at least not until i have to sign the new contract this month. Too late for us to change venue). They have internal package for weddings 150 pax is estimated at 250k all in. Caterers should be accredited by CP such as Josiah\’s (we chose this one), Tamayos, The Swan, etc..Since mine is morning (in case it rains or too hot), i budgeted for tents - rental fee of 6k (20 x 20) which can accommodate 80-100 people. Set aside P14k for Tents that will accomodate 150 pax. Tip, choose caterers that can provide all the package of flowers arrangement, bridal car or cake to save on some cost. Agree to reserve in advance, mine was reserved last May and was just lucky to have the dates we wanted available. So pray for me to have a beautiful, sunny but cool morning on my wedding day!
