“Digital wedding photography is recording events for people to see in the coming years,” says Emil Buencamino, a seasoned wedding photographer of fifteen years and founding President of the Wedding and Portrait Photographers of the Philippines (WPPP) - a certifying body of wedding and portrait photographers with more than 50 members nationwide.
Emil who started photography at the age of sixteen as a hobby, says taking wedding pictures is an art that requires professional dedication. “Bridal photography is a very challenging field because there’s always the element of time pressure,” he avers.
Years ago when Emil spent his days clicking away his camera during class outings and field trips, he never thought to one day make a career as a wedding and portrait photographer. He did not have formal training in the craft but used his very first camera (sold to him by his older brother for P150!) immortalizing the scenery and people of Mindanao during vacations.
Now, this modest lensman is the recipient of countless awards in photo competitions conducted by the Association of Photo Studio Owners of the Philippines - 1st place in 1996 and 1999. A member of the Wedding & Portrait Photographer International, he has attended several photo conventions in the US and was even included in the 1994 book, “Who’s Who Professional Photographer of America”.
“Each wedding is unique,” he says. As witness to many couples who have walked down the aisle, Emil reveals, “In every wedding, I always think of it as if it’s my own child who is getting married. Sometimes, I am even more tensed than the real father of the bride!”
The Emil Buencamino Photography studio opened in Calamba during the early part of the 80’s. With his wife and children acting as his models in most of his photographs then, Emil ventured into glamour photography. His short stint as owner of printing press helped him acquire knowledge in dark room techniques and color separation, which proved helpful in his new career. After leafing through books and magazines and learning more about film processing, Emil finally saved money and invested them on high-end photography equipment.
At Emil Buencamino Photography, couples can choose from several wedding packages suitable for their needs. From color prints to custom print portraits with elegant frames and leather albums, to video coverage, the would-be bride and groom are assured of photographs they can treasure for a long time.
Testimonials:
“They’re definitely the best!” — Tony & Grazie
“Chris said he’s not that satisfied with the photos, as some were
poorly taken. Well, being a guy who is into photography himself, he knows what
he’s talking about and I dare not contest. But I loved the Audio Visual
presentation they prepared, which we showed during the reception. The Prenup
photos, which were done out of town, looked great, as well. Sir Emil was in the
US during the wedding, and his son, Erwin, who is supposed to take over, had to
excuse himself because he caught the flu virus. But they sent over a good team
of photographers for the wedding, and the prints were readily made available for
us for viewing..so, all is good.” — Chris & Mai
“very talented. very professional. easy and fun to work with. super kalog.” — Jon & Peejay
“At first, I regret na nagbook kami agad ng photographer without checking other options. Lalo na nung sunod-sunod yung bad reviews on mang emil. I asked paul na din kung kelangan ba namin magpalit ng photographer pero after discussing it with him, di pa din kami nagpalit. Buti na din lang! Happy naman kami sa raw pics na nakuha namin eh! May mga naisip akong shots na sana nakuha nila pero wala pero ok lang. Wala na ako magagawa. Tapos na yon eh!” — Toni & Paul
