Makeup pro Lanie found her passion as early as her middle school years. “Makeup & fashion has been my most favorite things in the world. I guess you could say I fell in love with it early. I feel fortunate, that even in my teens, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with my life.” Ironically, at that time, Lanie was attending a conservative catholic high school which has strict rules against wearing any kind of makeup. And that being the case, she had to master the subtle art of the ‘no makeup’ makeup look. At 16, Lanie had her first taste in formal makeup training from John Robert Powers. All through out College, where there are less rules to suppress her artistry, she experimented with other makeup techniques and practiced her skills on herself, on family and friends.
After school, Lanie has been the Creative Director and Makeup Artist in their family business Manila Polo Club Salon and Capelli Salon Café. And in her hunger to acquire more skills for hair styling, makeup and customer service, she pushed herself to attend seminars locally and abroad. So far, Lanie had trained under the following:
* Mary Wild of CLAMAR - Makeup Artistry
* ICI Institute - Bridal, Fashion and History of Makeup
* Jay Feliciano of Wella Studio - Makeup for Television, Video & Photography
* L’oreal Academy - Master Colourist
* Toni and Guy Singapore - Ambassador Training
* Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia & Phuket Thailand - Defining Customer Service
Now that she has gone a long way and has many creative influences through study, travel and experiences, she describes her signature style as “fresh, feminine and sultry.”
For the past years, Lanie has been dedicating her life and talent in doing makeup for weddings and debuts. Lanie had also worked extensively as a makeup artist for both big media giants ABS-CBN and GMA 7. She has also been interviewed for Beauty and Makeover Segments for several shows such as ‘F’ and ‘Unang Hirit.’ She has worked behind the pages for Cosmopolitan, Candy and Seventeen Magazines and also in photo shoots for Globe Telecom and Bosch advertising.
Reviews:
“Positive:
- Also one of my fave suppliers, ang bait talaga
- Dami nagsabi ganda ng make-up ko
- very subtle lang ang effect. Hindi nag-iba mukha ko
- Hindi ako nag retouch (not even powder and lipstick) from ceremony
til end of reception pero ganda pa din daw ng make-up ko.
Negative:
- I wanted a different hair style pero hindi kaya ng hairstylist ni
Lanie during the trial make-up, pero maganda pa din naman.
My hair style just turned out to be my usual style.” — Peejay
“Met Lani during the bridal fair at the NBC tent. She had this large poster talaga which will really catch your attention. Tapos when we talked to her, I liked her agad. And I liked the fact that she worked for certain magazines for photo shoots. And she had her own salon din which was conveniently located near abs-cbn. She offered 20% discount for bride + 2 other persons for make-up. ikot ikot pa kami and I finally decided to get her. I liked the trial make-up kasi it looked I had a no-makeup look on our pre-nup pics. And it really stayed for several hours. At the wedding she stayed until the start of the reception. Todo re-touch lagi!” — Nice
