Notable Themed Weddings

8 June 2009 5 Comments

There are very few themed weddings that we see these days. Meaning, we’ve seen those beach weddings, enchanted fairies, garden wedding and the likes but they became very common that they are hardly called unique themed weddings. And for some (if not all) obsessive-compulsive brides, they want their weddings to be unique. It must be something that the guests will remember for the a long time, if not forever.

And in the past several months, the weddings listed below are worth noting as extremely unique themed weddings. These are the couples who were brave, clever and uberly creative to have the wedding of their dreams a reality.

Star Wars Themed Wedding

You seldom find a person with similar passion as yours, much less a fanatic like you. But Tiger and Issa must have been really meant for each other because these two Star Wars fanatic found love with the Force. And how do avid Star Wars fans do their weddings? Of course, make it a Star Wars themed. And yes, complete with Storm Troopers(from the 501st Legion:Philippine Outpost), lightsabers, decorations, invitations, tables, guests, death star cake and the dancing floor with the disco Death Stars. They even had a Las Vegas style production number by the couple.

For the guest and even for the vendors, this wedding is an experience in itself. It’s definitely no ordinary wedding. The wedding is actually featured in several international websites like Gizmodo and Rock and Roll Bride. Recently, Umagang Kay Ganda made a feature for their wedding. Now, that’s what we call “MEMORABLE”.

The Black Wedding

Kamikazee frontman Jay Contreras and his bride, Sarah, surprised everyone with their black-themed wedding. To top it off, they had their wedding at the Paco Park, a Spanish colonial times cemetery. Mango Red did an excellent job to make that wedding look even better in pictures. It is also worth mentioning that the couple had their prenup pictorials at a cemetery in Clark Air Base.

Others may find it creepy and morbid but if you look at the pictures, it was really elegant. All visitors wore black and that made the bride stand out above everybody. The wedding looked very romantic with a touch of simplicity and elegance. Sometimes you really need to be brave to pull off a great event. And being artists themselves, Jay and Sarah, may not had a hard time to conceptualize their wedding.

The Secret Wedding

No, we’re not talking of celebrities going to Jaen, Nueva Ecija to get a town mayor who will conduct a marriage rite for eloping couple. We’re talking of a real church wedding for one of the most popular soap opera actresses to an equally popular tv show host. And if you are a celebrity with the popularity of Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo, it would be a monumental task to keep your wedding out of the radar of the media and the public in general. But despite the challenges, Juday and Ryan, managed to do it with an spectacular success.

In this all-white wedding, guest celebrities and top honchos in the entertainment industries committed their time for the couple. That’s another achievement for the newlyweds. Given the guests’ status and positions, it would be second to impossible for these people to commit more than 24 hours of their time for a specific event. Much less, a wedding. But in another miracle that only Judy Ann and Ryan can manage, they attended both the ceremony and the reception. Heck, they even stayed through the night. And though there was a breakfast reception near the church, the main reception was hours away from San Juan Nepumoceno Church by boat.

I love the Star Wars Theme. Hilarious. You would have to really like Star Wars to go all out like those good people.

Wow wonderful! I’m planning to have a fireworks themed wedding because I fell in love with my fiance and said yes while there are fireworks in the skies. However, I’m running out of ideas on how to do it. I don’t even know if it is possible to have fondant cake with fireworks toppers.

I hope there would be somebody to help me and give me ideas… :)
