Frederick Peralta was born in Iloilo. Before becoming a designer, Peralta worked as a newsboy, fish vendor, houseboy, tailor/designer for a jeans company and finally as an apprentice at Rex Centeno’s shop. In 1994, he won the Grand Prix at the Internationale Creatures de Jeunes de Mode (Young International Designers Competition) held in Paris, the first Filipino to win such a prestigious award.
